The Ski Locker
Nestled in the French Alps overlooking Italy and Switzerland, The Ski Locker is there for outdoor lovers who need a place to work.
An alpine dream
Opened in 2014, The Ski Locker is situated in the town of Chamonix on the border with Switzerland and Italy in the French Alps. The space caters to a wide variety of people connected by their love of the mountains and snow. From hikers, and skiers to snowboarding, the community at The Ski Locker is formed by a diverse crowd from all over the world. Initially opened by four founders, the work today is handled by Patrik, who manages the space, Nicola who helps in the office, and Chris, who handles the bills and finances.
The space currently has around 35 desks, with four meeting rooms for those people on team retreats, or local teams looking for a practical, usable workspace.
Spreadsheet headaches
While excel sheets can be useful for tracking many aspects of life, it was proving difficult to scale, especially given the amount of digital nomads who were working from the space on a limited basis. They found it hard to look after customers and build their community while relying on spreadsheets and they had ambitions to expand their impact.
Automating the busywork
Automating their processes meant that The Ski Locker suddenly had more time to spend focusing on community building. Now the system keeps track of late payments, room bookings, and plan changes, making it easier to manage a larger membership base without requiring more employees.
The Ski Locker is also expanding further into the basement in the near future, adding more desks and space from which to cowork for after those action-packed mornings on the mountain slopes.
