juggleHUB has been an invaluable resource for working parents in Berlin.
A space for working parents
JuggleHUB is a family-friendly, service-oriented workspace that opened in 2016 to solve a problem that the founders had seen across many workspaces—there was hardly any accommodation for working parents with young children.
These days, childcare isn’t the only thing that they’re known for. They’re also proud of their warm community that accommodates everyone looking for a workspace.
Combining childcare and coworking
As more people began to participate in the community, a few problems presented themselves.
Childcare services, the heart of the space, required automated bookings and payments. Without an automated system, members would often decide to cancel last minute or simply not show up; members would fail to consider the logistical work required to initiate/cancel their bookings. Plus, childcare added a level of complexity to bookings that made their existing spreadsheets extremely complex.
Childcare is a love project. It is definitely a challenge, in terms of staffing, it’s what costs us the most amount of money and coordination. But JuggleHUB wouldn’t be JuggleHUB without childcare, it is our reason for being.
Booking deadlines and passes
Using Cobot, JuggleHUB was able to add a booking deadline for childcare services and a minimum cancellation period. This allows them to plan correctly while still allowing members to have the freedom to book and cancel childcare slots themselves.
Automation has also freed up their time when it to comes to invoicing; what used to be a complex series of spreadsheets and tracking members down became a background process. Cobot’s coworking tools have freed them up to focus on spending time with their community and continuing to be a welcoming space for families.
Advice
You need to be very aware of your different sources of income. Figure out how to accommodate event and team office spaces to cover a large part of the rent.
