About Cobot

Cobot has grown side-by-side with the coworking movement. We first developed Cobot for our own coworking space because in 2009, there were no good options for efficiently managing coworking spaces. Over ten years later, we’re as passionate as ever about the possibilities of coworking and enabling a collaborative, flexible, and ethical future of work. This attitude extends to our workplace culture; every day our team aspires to model our beliefs and to support the coworking spaces that depend on our software.

We’re proud to have over a decade of experience in the coworking movement—both from operating our own space and from developing coworking management software. Over that time we’ve accompanied all kinds of spaces and coworking projects as they’ve grown their businesses and their communities.

Why We Built Cobot

Thilo Utke and Alexander Lang are the founders behind Cobot. They’ve worked together since 2006 and opened their own coworking space in Berlin, co.up, in 2008.

With the success of co.up, their management tasks became increasingly time-consuming. As engineers, they kept thinking about how could they improve and automate their space to avoid needing to deal with spreadsheets and paperwork. This lead to the creation of Cobot in early 2010 as our own in-house tool.

Our initial usage in co.up quickly made a difference in our efficiency and we started getting requests from others to use the software – something we didn’t expect at first.

Today, Cobot helps hundreds of coworking spaces all over the world streamline their operations and is one a top-ranked coworking management software.

We continuously strive to build the best possible system for coworking management so that space owners can focus on what really matters – time with their coworkers.

The Cobot Manifesto

The Cobot Manifesto was developed by our team to guide both our development and business decisions. It reflects our dedication and participation in the global coworking community; the heart of our business. Most importantly, it represents why we choose to be part of this movement. The Cobot Manifesto is based on these five main pillars, inspired by the international coworking manifesto:

Community before Business

People and their connections are the foundation of our industry and we support this community through our business.

Engagement before Management

We prefer to let people organize themselves and provide them with resources to successfully work together.

Excellence before Versatility

We prefer to do things exceptionally instead of doing many things decently, we stay flexible and adapt for the future.

Dialog before Reach

A conversation between real people is the most powerful way to communicate and sharing a conversation amplifies its impact.

Trust before Control

We trust people to do the right thing when they are empowered to work and learn in a free and self-guided way.
